Artemis Wines, a family-run winery in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, was established in 1996 by brothers Anton and Mark Balog. As pioneers in the region, they were the first to plant Pinot Noir, contributing to the Southern Highlands' reputation for cool climate wine production. Their approach combines traditional European winemaking techniques with Australian varietal expression, aiming to create wines with structure, complexity, and a distinct regional character. The winery, named after Artemis, the Greek Goddess of Creation and Harvest, reflects these themes in its grape growing and winemaking practices.
The Artemis cellar door provides a welcoming space for wine tasting, designed with materials that connect to the surrounding bushland. Featuring contemporary recycled River Redgum, the space offers a rustic yet modern aesthetic. Guests can enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the cellar door by the fire during cooler months, while in summer, the green lawns and vineyard views create a relaxed outdoor setting for enjoying a glass of wine.
You can expect the following from a tasting at Artemis:
Bookings are recommended for wine tastings and lunch at Artemis Wines. The cellar door offers various tasting experiences, accompanied by local Cheese & Charcuterie Boards available daily, and wood-fired pizzas served on weekends. These food options complement the wine selection, creating an enjoyable and complete experience for visitors.
