Barwang Wines, located in the NSW Hilltops region, is a landmark vineyard with a rich history and strong reputation for quality wines. Established in the late 1960s, Barwang is one of the pioneering vineyards in the area, home to some of the region’s oldest vines. Now managed by James and Wendy Bowman, sixth-generation farmers in the district, Barwang continues its legacy with a newly launched portfolio, including Rosé, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. These wines reflect the Bowman family’s dedication to preserving the vineyard’s tradition of crafting outstanding single varietal wines.
Situated on the South West Slopes of the Great Dividing Range at an altitude of 520m, Barwang Vineyard benefits from a unique terroir. The cool-climate conditions, including reliable rainfall, mild days, and cool nights, contribute to slow and even ripening, resulting in wines with excellent flavor, acidity, and color. The deep red, decomposed granite clay soils enriched with basalt further enhance the regional character of Barwang’s wines, making the Hilltops region an ideal location for producing premium varietals.
