Spring Vale is a fifth-generation family-owned vineyard on Tasmania's Freycinet Coast, where the Lyne family has farmed since 1875. Established as a vineyard in 1986, the estate is now known for its high-quality cool-climate wines, particularly Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Gewürztraminer. The vineyard's unique terroir—fertile clay loam soils and a dry, maritime-influenced climate—creates ideal conditions for slow ripening and excellent flavour development.
Over the years, Spring Vale has expanded its plantings and winemaking capacity, including the addition of the neighbouring "Melrose" property in 2007. The estate remains committed to hands-on viticulture, ensuring each vintage reflects the character of the Freycinet Coast. Today, the vineyard produces a range of wines, including the signature "Melrose" Pinot Noir, crafted with a lighter, approachable style.
The Spring Vale cellar door is housed in a beautifully preserved heritage-listed stable, built by convict labour in 1842. This unique setting offers visitors a memorable tasting experience, blending the history of the estate with the modern craftsmanship of its wines. The intimate space is a perfect backdrop to sample the vineyard’s cool-climate varieties and learn about the winemaking process from the knowledgeable team.
Set in the picturesque Freycinet Coast wine region, the cellar door provides a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for guests to explore Spring Vale’s award-winning wines. Whether tasting the estate’s elegant Pinot Noir or its aromatic whites, visitors can enjoy a personal and immersive experience that showcases the vineyard’s dedication to quality.
