Rosnay Organic, established by Richard and Florence Statham and their sons in 1997, is a family-run farm in Canowindra, NSW, producing certified organic wines, olives, and figs. Embracing organic farming from the beginning, the Stathams have nurtured their vineyards and orchards without harmful chemicals, a commitment rooted in Richard's father's passion. The winery's heritage is enriched by Florence’s French grandfather, Alberic Dulong de Rosnay, after whom the farm is named. Rosnay Organic is not just about wines; it also boasts a diverse offering of olives and figs, allowing visitors to explore a variety of organic produce.
The wines at Rosnay Organic are made on-site using natural methods. The vineyard was planted in 1997 and has since been organic, adopting regenerative and biodynamic farming methods. In 2022, all their wines were fermented with wild yeast and bottled without fining agents or filtration, preserving the wine's true character. This approach to winemaking results in natural wines that are a pure expression of the vineyard's terroir.
The Cellar Door at Rosnay Organic is not only a place to taste their natural wines but also an art gallery and farm shop. Open from 10 am to 4 pm on weekends and public holidays, it offers tastings all day with no bookings required, although pre-booking is recommended to reserve tables or arrange private tastings during the week. Visitors can also indulge in a delicious picnic platter of seasonal local produce, enhancing the wine-tasting experience with a taste of the region's culinary delights.
