Mortimers Family Wines, situated in the scenic town of Orange, NSW, is celebrated for its premium cool climate wines. Established in 2000 by Peter Mortimer, a former Rugby League player, and his wife Julie, this family-owned vineyard has flourished on their 45-acre Chestnut Garth property.
The vineyard, expertly managed under the guidance of Simon Gilbert and Chris Derrez, produces a variety of wines including Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. The Mortimer family is dedicated to sustainable practices, nurturing their vineyard to produce elegant and complex fruit, resulting in outstanding wines that capture the essence of the region.
The Cellar Door at Mortimers Family Wines, located in the heritage-listed Old March Public School, offers a unique and atmospheric wine tasting experience. Open from Thursday to Sunday, guests can savour a range of wines while enjoying the rich history of the 150-year-old building.
Located just 5 minutes north of Orange, the Cellar Door caters to both individuals and small groups, with cheese boards available to complement the tastings. This historic setting, coupled with the family's commitment to producing top-quality wines, provides a warm and inviting atmosphere for all visitors.
