Kay Brothers is McLaren Vale’s oldest family-owned winery, established in 1890 by Herbert and Frederick Kay. For over 130 years, the Kay family has cultivated their historic Amery vineyard, producing wines that honor traditional methods and highlight the unique character of the region. Their philosophy revolves around preserving the natural flavors of the vineyard, utilising open fermenters, hand plunging, and their iconic 1928 basket press to craft wines that are approachable yet age-worthy.
The winery’s portfolio spans a range of premium varietals, including Shiraz, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside limited releases like their celebrated fortified wines. With a strong emphasis on small-batch production, Kay Brothers continues to showcase the balance and intensity that McLaren Vale is renowned for. Learn more about the region here.
