K1 Wines

A boutique Winery and Cellar Door in the Adelaide Hills

Wine Tasting at K1

K1 Wines was established in 1986 by Geoff Hardy, a fifth-generation descendant of Australian wine pioneer Thomas Hardy. Located in the Adelaide Hills, the K1 vineyard was the first commercial planting in the Kuitpo region and has since become renowned for its premium cool-climate wines. The vineyard's unique terroir, with ancient soils and a high-altitude setting, provides the ideal conditions for producing expressive, site-driven wines.

The K1 range includes elegant Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and sparkling wines, all crafted with a focus on minimal intervention to allow the vineyard’s natural characteristics to shine. Under the guidance of senior winemaker Shane Harris, who has been named Australian Winemaker of the Year multiple times, K1 continues to uphold its reputation for excellence, producing wines that are celebrated for their balance, depth, and finesse.

Visit K1 in Adelaide Hills

Set in a stunning lakeside location, the K1 Wines Cellar Door offers one of the most picturesque wine-tasting experiences in the Adelaide Hills. The modern yet rustic space, known as 'The Lakehouse,' overlooks the vineyard and rolling hills, creating a serene and immersive setting for visitors to enjoy a tasting flight or a glass of wine. Guests can choose from structured tastings of both the K1 and Hand Crafted ranges, with options to pair their wines with a selection of cheeses.

For those seeking a more relaxed experience, outdoor picnic seating under the birch trees is available, and the estate is dog-friendly, making it a welcoming space for all. While there is no on-site restaurant, light cheese platters can be purchased, and special events, including vineyard horse rides, are occasionally hosted in partnership with Bluestone Equestrian Centre.

Tastings for smaller groups feature a flight of four wines, with the tasting fee redeemable on wine purchases. Groups of 10-15 people are required to prepay for their tasting or reserve a table for wine by the glass or bottle. The venue can accommodate larger gatherings upon request, with the Barrel Deck available for private bookings. Public holiday visits incur a surcharge, and same-day bookings should be confirmed by calling the cellar door directly.
