Apogee Tasmania is a small-scale, high-quality vineyard in Tasmania, founded by renowned winemaker Andrew Pirie. After decades of research into wine climates and terroir, Pirie established Apogee as a single-vineyard site dedicated to producing world-class sparkling and cool-climate wines. With just two hectares under vine, the vineyard is managed with precision and care, following a philosophy of low-yield, high-intensity viticulture similar to the great wine regions of France.
The vineyard’s primary focus is on traditional Champagne varieties—Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier—crafted into a classic méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine. In addition, Apogee produces limited quantities of table wines, including its Alto Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, which showcase the unique characteristics of the site. Every step, from vineyard management to winemaking, is carried out with meticulous attention to detail to ensure the wines express their terroir.
The Apogee cellar door offers an intimate and highly personalised tasting experience by appointment only. Set within the picturesque Tasmanian landscape, the vineyard’s tasting room provides visitors with the opportunity to sample a curated selection of Apogee wines while learning about the vineyard’s innovative viticulture and winemaking techniques.
Guided tastings include four wines, allowing guests to explore the nuances of Apogee’s sparkling and table wines. The vineyard’s boutique scale and commitment to quality mean that production is limited, making each visit a rare opportunity to experience wines crafted with exceptional care.
