Wine Tasting at Thorn-Clarke

Thorn-Clarke is a family-owned winery in the Barossa Valley, with deep roots in the region’s viticulture. The family’s history dates back to the 1870s when one side established a fruit farm that would go on to nurture some of the Barossa’s oldest vineyards, while the other side uncovered the region’s first gold mine. The two legacies merged a century later, forming a winery dedicated to producing wines that reflect the land’s richness and heritage.

The Thorn-Clarke story took shape in 1987 when David and Cheryl Clarke planted their first vineyard at Kabininge, near Tanunda. For over a decade, their fruit was sold to neighbouring wineries before they took the leap into winemaking in 1998. Today, the family crafts wines that showcase the character of their estate-grown fruit, with a focus on Shiraz and other Barossa classics. With multiple generations involved in vineyard management and winemaking, Thorn-Clarke remains dedicated to producing wines that honour both tradition and innovation.
