Tarrahill Vineyard is a boutique estate in the Yarra Valley, dedicated to producing wines solely from its own vineyard. Originally planted in 1990, the vineyard has evolved to include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, with newer plantings of Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. Despite challenges—including the loss of part of the vineyard in the 2009 bushfires—Tarrahill continues to cultivate premium fruit with a focus on quality and expression of site.
Winemaking at Tarrahill follows a minimal intervention philosophy, allowing the fruit to shine with little interference. Each vintage reflects the unique conditions of the season, resulting in elegant, cool-climate wines with structure and depth. The estate’s Shiraz, in particular, has built a strong reputation, often selected for reserve releases.
Tarrahill offers a private and intimate tasting experience, available by appointment only. The focus is on showcasing estate-grown wines in a relaxed and informative setting, where guests can learn about the vineyard’s microclimate, grape varieties, and winemaking techniques. Tastings are hosted by the team and tailored for small groups, providing a unique opportunity to engage directly with those behind the wines.
As a working vineyard, Tarrahill does not host weddings or large functions, ensuring that visits remain personal and centered on the wines. Guests can enjoy a thoughtful selection of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon, with future releases set to include Bordeaux-style blends as the newer plantings mature.
