Ortus Wines is a family-operated winery located in McLaren Vale. Founded in 2013 by mother-daughter team Julie and Paige Cooper, the winery reflects their commitment to hard work and a deep connection to the land. The family’s winemaking legacy traces back to the 1840s in the Barossa Valley, with their ancestors cultivating some of the region’s earliest vineyards.
Ortus Wines focuses on estate-grown Shiraz, carefully managed and produced on their 26-acre vineyard. Julie and Paige are involved in every stage of production, ensuring that their wines showcase the character of the McLaren Vale region while continuing their family’s tradition of dedication and quality.
The Ortus Wines Cellar Door in Willunga provides a welcoming environment for wine lovers. Guests can choose from a conversational tasting at the bar or a self-guided experience at the indoor tables. Outdoor seating on the deck and lawn offers space for larger groups or picnics, with Ortus picnic blankets available for use. The relaxed setting is complemented by the option to bring your own food or enjoy the available platters.
