Drawing from a rich family heritage that spans back to 1939 when their grandfather acquired the farm, the Downer family has since infused Murdoch Hill with a passion for winemaking and land stewardship. With vineyards set on an east-facing slope rising to 420m elevation, Murdoch Hill specialises in a range of varietals, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Syrah, embracing an organic ethos and a minimalistic approach in the winery to highlight the unique terroir of the Adelaide Hills.
Chief Winemaker Michael Downer, alongside his brothers Andrew and Henry, continues to drive the vision of producing adventurous and high-quality wines that reflect the region's distinctive climate and soil composition.
