Murdoch Hill, a family-owned boutique winery located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills near Oakbank, has been crafting exceptional wines since its vineyards were first planted by the family in 1998. Drawing from a rich family heritage that spans back to 1939 when their grandfather acquired the farm, the Downer family has since infused Murdoch Hill with a passion for winemaking and land stewardship. With vineyards set on an east-facing slope rising to 420m elevation, Murdoch Hill specialises in a range of varietals, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Syrah, embracing an organic ethos and a minimalistic approach in the winery to highlight the unique terroir of the Adelaide Hills.
Chief Winemaker Michael Downer, alongside his brothers Andrew and Henry, continues to drive the vision of producing adventurous and high-quality wines that reflect the region's distinctive climate and soil composition. Through careful vineyard management and innovative winemaking techniques, Murdoch Hill has become known for its expressive, approachable wines that are both a reflection of the family's legacy and a celebration of the Adelaide Hills' unique wine culture.
