Merricks Estate is one of the pioneering vineyards of the Mornington Peninsula, first planted in 1977 by the Kefford family. Set on gentle slopes with views towards Western Port Bay, the estate has remained true to its roots, producing premium cool-climate wines that reflect the region’s maritime influence. With over four decades of winemaking, the estate is known for its exceptional Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vineyard is carefully managed using the Scott Henry trellising system to optimise sunlight and air circulation, ensuring the fruit ripens slowly for enhanced complexity. Recent plantings include additional Pinot Noir clones to add depth and character to future vintages. Alongside its dedication to viticulture, Merricks Estate is committed to conservation, with a bush regeneration program that preserves the natural ecosystem of the property.
The cellar door at Merricks Estate offers an intimate and rustic wine-tasting experience, set beneath a canopy of towering gums. Guests can sample a range of estate-grown wines, each showcasing the distinct terroir of the Mornington Peninsula. The setting is relaxed and welcoming, with a personalised approach to tastings that reflects the family’s long-standing commitment to hospitality.

Bookings are recommended for all tasting experiences, especially for groups. The cellar door operates on select weekends throughout the year, including the first weekend of each month, weekends associated with public holidays, and daily between December 27th and 31st. Guests can enjoy a guided tasting of estate-grown wines, with a focus on Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Chardonnay.
