La Prova is an innovative exploration of Italian grape varieties in the Adelaide Hills and beyond. Founded by winemaker Sam Scott in 2008, the label focuses on varieties that thrive in Australia's warming climate, using less water and producing wines with natural elegance and complexity. La Prova sources fruit from carefully chosen vineyards, including Prosecco from King Valley and Nero d’Avola from McLaren Vale, alongside its core Adelaide Hills plantings.
Each wine in the range balances traditional Italian characteristics with a modern Australian sensibility, producing textural, savoury, and food-friendly wines. Alongside the flagship La Prova range is La Prova Uno, which showcases single-site expressions from exceptional vineyards. La Prova’s cellar door in Hahndorf offers a relaxed, lounge-style setting where visitors can take their time over a guided tasting flight. Open on the first weekend of every month, this inviting space is designed for leisurely enjoyment, with tastings served alongside local goat’s curd and crackers. Guests can also enjoy a selection of produce plates, from light charcuterie options to heartier grazing platters featuring smoked trout, artisan cheeses, and marinated vegetables.

Bookings are recommended for all visits to La Prova’s cellar door, as it is only open on the first weekend of each month. Wine flights include five tastings and a small food pairing, with complimentary flights available for members of The Bunch wine club.
