Established in 2011, Heslop Wines is a family-owned boutique winery located in the Mudgee wine region. The winery focuses on sustainable winemaking practices, producing small batches of handcrafted wines with minimal intervention. Their approach includes hand-picking and pruning, strategic irrigation, and the use of solar power. Traditional methods such as gentle crushing, hand plunging, and basket pressing are central to their winemaking process.
Winemaker Robert Heslop crafts a range of wines, including Rosé, Vermentino, and Chardonnay, as well as traditional and alternative varieties like Touriga Nacional and Zinfandel. The vineyard combines tradition with innovation to create wines that reflect the character of the Mudgee region.
Visiting Heslop Wines offers a relaxed wine-tasting experience in a small, eight-acre property with a charming cottage garden. The tasting room is run by Julie and her partner, who share their knowledge and enthusiasm for wine with visitors.
