Grosset Wines, based in the high country of the Clare Valley, is one of Australia’s most respected wineries, led by pioneering winemaker Jeffrey Grosset. Established in the early 1980s, the estate has become renowned for its commitment to quality, biodynamic farming and varietal expression. The vineyards, situated at elevations between 460–560 metres, are among the coolest in the region, producing wines of finesse, purity, and balance.
Each wine in the Grosset portfolio—from the iconic Polish Hill Riesling to elegant expressions of Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet and Pinot Noir—is a reflection of their sustainable ethos and meticulous, small-scale production. With a hands-on, low-intervention approach and an emphasis on biodiversity, Grosset continues to set benchmarks for Australian winemaking.
The Grosset Cellar Door in Auburn is set within a beautifully restored stone building—formerly a butter churn—and offers a relaxed and seated tasting experience. Open for a limited season each year, visits are timed to coincide with their Autumn wine release, giving guests the opportunity to taste both new and museum wines in an intimate setting.
An audio-visual display provides deeper insight into Grosset’s certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, enhancing the experience for visitors interested in the winery’s sustainable practices and winemaking philosophy.
You can expect the following from a tasting at Grosset:
Tastings at Grosset Wines are available by appointment during their limited seasonal opening window. Bookings are required to secure a seated tasting, particularly during the Autumn release period.
