Myrtaceae is a small, family-owned winery in the Main Ridge area of the Mornington Peninsula, producing single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Established in 1984 by John and Julie Trueman, the winery remains the highest on the Peninsula, creating cool-climate wines that reflect the unique growing conditions of the region. With a focus on minimal intervention in the vineyard, the grapes are hand-picked and fermented in French oak, allowing the fruit to express itself naturally.
The vineyard covers just 3.5 acres, producing limited quantities of wine each year. Originally planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, the site was later replanted with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to better suit its cool-climate conditions. The wines are made entirely on-site, following a careful and hands-on approach to viticulture and winemaking. Myrtaceae is a true small-batch producer, offering a personal and authentic experience in the Mornington Peninsula.
The Cellar Door at Myrtaceae provides a relaxed and welcoming setting for wine tastings, hosted by the owners themselves. Visitors can sample the latest releases while seated in the courtyard, or indoors during cooler months. The space is small and intimate, designed to create a personalised tasting experience.
Surrounded by established gardens and the rolling landscape of Main Ridge, the winery offers a peaceful and unpretentious atmosphere. Guests can learn about the vineyard and winemaking process directly from John and Julie, making for an engaging and informative visit.
