Douglas Vale Historic Vineyard, located in the Hastings River wine region, is a unique combination of history and winemaking. Established in 1862, it features the oldest timber homestead in the region, along with a vineyard and museum. The property has been carefully restored to celebrate its heritage, offering visitors experiences such as homestead tours, wine tastings of heritage wines made from handpicked grapes, and the chance to enjoy a cheese plate in a scenic vineyard setting. The vineyard welcomes visitors every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, with larger groups accommodated by appointment.
A visit to Douglas Vale is both leisurely and enriching, taking 1-2 hours to explore the vineyard, orchard, vegetable, cottage, and pond gardens. Guided tours of the homestead museum and wine tastings provide a unique perspective on the site’s historical and viticultural significance. Located just a 5-minute walk from Port Macquarie’s CBD, guests can relax with a glass of wine and light refreshments in a serene setting.
