Avani Wines is a family-owned winery on the Mornington Peninsula, producing premium cool-climate wines with a focus on minimal intervention winemaking. Established by Shashi and Devendra Singh, the estate vineyard is farmed using natural principles, and the additional vineyard sites they work with are all sustainably managed. Avani is known for its Syrah, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay, as well as an exciting range of skin-contact wines.
Shashi and her son Rohit aim to capture the essence of each vineyard and growing season. Their winemaking philosophy embraces wild yeast fermentation, no fining or filtration, and minimal additions, allowing the true character of the land to shine through in every bottle. This commitment to terroir-driven winemaking has earned Avani recognition, including Gourmet Traveller’s Best Small Cellar Door Award in 2022.
The Avani cellar door offers an intimate and award-winning tasting experience, set against the backdrop of their biodynamically farmed vineyard in Red Hill South. Visitors can sample new-release wines from the single-vineyard Avani and Amrit ranges, including Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris.
Tastings provide insight into Avani’s minimal intervention approach and the unique characteristics of each vineyard site. To complement the wine selection, guests can also enjoy a curated cheese platter while taking in the picturesque vineyard views.
