Windows Estate is a small, certified organic vineyard in Margaret River, where every aspect of viticulture is carefully considered to create wines that reflect the land. Chris, the estate’s viticulturist, has spent years understanding the interplay between soil, vine orientation, and natural biodiversity to cultivate a truly unique vineyard. The vines are dry-farmed, allowing the ancient laterite, clay, and granite soils to impart their distinctive influence on the wines.
Each block of the vineyard has its own identity. The Lucas Block, planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, sits on a granite-rich elevation, while the Home Block, with its gravelly loam soils, is dedicated to red varietals such as Merlot, Malbec, and Syrah. Violette’s Block, the most picturesque, is planted solely to Chardonnay and benefits from its unique karri loam topsoil. Together, these carefully nurtured plots ensure the production of profoundly structured wines that showcase the character of the land.
The Windows Estate cellar door offers an intimate and relaxed tasting experience, where visitors can explore the range of certified organic wines. The setting reflects the estate’s commitment to sustainability, with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Guests can engage in a guided tasting with knowledgeable staff who are passionate about sharing the story behind each wine.
For those looking for a deeper experience, the estate offers a vineyard tour led by Chris or Jo, the estate’s owners. This immersive journey provides insight into the intricate factors influencing wine quality, from vineyard management to soil composition. The experience concludes with a private tasting, connecting the land to the glass.
